This course teaches children and young learners how to grow Irish potatoes at home using simple materials such as soil, manure, and a cement sack. It is designed especially for out-of-school girls and almajiri boys, using clear and easy-to-understand language. The course is based on a practical video that shows each step—from preparing seed potatoes, to mixing healthy soil, planting in sacks, and caring for the growing plants.

Before watching the video, participants learn new vocabulary and important concepts such as sprouting, manure, fertilizer, pests, and hilling. After the video, the facilitator guides a discussion to help learners understand why each step is important, what to avoid, and how to care for the plant correctly.

This course does not require hands-on demonstration but focuses on building understanding, confidence, and curiosity about home farming. By the end, learners will know how potatoes grow, what plants need to survive, and how farming can be done even without a large farm or expensive tools. The goal is to give children a useful life skill, inspire self-reliance, and encourage agricultural interest in a simple and enjoyable way.
